Why DevBuddy
The honest comparison.
There are three normal ways to get development capacity. Here's where each one hurts, and where we fit.
Versus hiring directly
The usual way
Months of recruiting, contracts, payroll setup, and severance risk if the project ends.
The buddy way
A working developer in your team within weeks. DevBuddy is the employer; you get the output.
Versus traditional outsourcing
The usual way
A ticket goes over the wall; something comes back. The people building your product never meet your team.
The buddy way
Buddies sit inside your team — same standups, same tools, same goals. You know exactly who writes your code.
Versus freelancer platforms
The usual way
You screen strangers, manage availability gaps, and start over when someone disappears.
The buddy way
Every buddy is pre-screened, employed and backed by DevBuddy — with a bench behind them if life happens.
FAQ
Asked every single call.
How does the 'rent a developer' model actually work?+
DevBuddy employs the developers — contracts, payroll and legalities are handled by us in Colombia. You choose who joins your team, direct their day-to-day work, and pay one predictable invoice.
Do I get to pick the developers?+
Yes. We propose people from our pre-screened pool; you interview them like your own hires. Nobody joins your team without your yes.
What does the horizontal structure mean for me?+
No account-manager relay. You talk directly to the people writing your code, and they can tell you the truth about timelines without it passing through three layers first.
Which time zones do you work with?+
We're in Medellín (UTC−5). For Caribbean clients that's a near-perfect overlap; for European clients your afternoon is our morning — real-time collaboration every working day.
Can I scale a team down when a project ends?+
Yes — that's the point. Wind down without severance conversations, and scale back up for the next release without re-hiring.
What if a buddy leaves or is unavailable?+
They're our employees, so continuity is our problem, not yours. We handle handover and bring in a replacement from the bench.
